Key Responsibilities of the Pharmacist

• Accept and dispense prescription medications
• Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns
• Ensure the supply of medicines is within legal guidelines
• Advise patients about medicines and answer their questions
• Provide consultation on prescription and non-prescription medications
• Educate patients on medical devices and proper handling
• Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions
• Supervise pharmacy staff members
• Maintain pharmacy inventory on pharmaceutical and medical supplies
• Identify and effectively communicate patients' drug-related problems
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other pharmacists

Requirements of the Pharmacist

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree required
• Licensed by the state pharmacy board
