Key Responsibilities of the Pharmacist

• Accept and dispense prescription medications
• Monitor patient medication compliance and over-usage patterns
• Ensure that the supply of medicines is within the law
• Verify suitability of prescribed medicines
• Accurately maintain confidential patient records
• Advise patients on medicines, including usage and potential reactions
• Consult on medication storage, dosage, side effects, and interactions
• Provide patient services such as smoking cessation and health management
• Educate on the proper handling of medical devices
• Compound medications for use
• Prepare sterile solutions following proper procedures
• Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks
• Maintain appropriate inventory levels
• Identify and communicate drug-related problems with healthcare providers
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other pharmacists

Requirements of the Pharmacist

• Doctor of Pharmacy degree required
• Licensed by the state pharmacy board
