Key Responsibilities of the Physical Therapist

• Perform comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to assess physical and cognitive abilities
• Develop and implement individualized treatment plans with measurable goals
• Adhere to documentation policies including Initial Patient Evaluations, Progress notes, and Discharge Summaries
• Participate in patient care and family conferences, in-service programs, and departmental meetings
• Counsel patients, families, and other involved individuals regarding patient care and treatment
• Initiate and complete discharge planning timely and provide effective education and training
• Assist in coordinating and supervising the Physical Therapy student and volunteer programs
• Maintain awareness of community agencies for appropriate referrals
• Participate in research activities and demonstrate competence in patient care responsibilities

Requirements of the Physical Therapist

• Bachelor's, Master's, or entry-level Doctorate of Physical Therapy from an accredited institution
• Current New Mexico Physical Therapist Licensure required
• BLS certification via AHA required
• Completion of pre-employment/post-job offer health screening examination
