Key Responsibilities of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse

• Connect with patients and families during triage to establish rapport and assess needs.
• Conduct primary and secondary assessments to identify and prioritize care requirements.
• Document and report any signs of domestic violence or abuse.
• Encourage trust and cooperation among team members for optimal patient outcomes.
• Prepare patients for diagnostic procedures and teach post-emergency care essentials.
• Maintain communication with patients and their families throughout the ER visit.

Requirements of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS certifications
• Valid NYS RN licensure
• 2 years of experience in the Emergency Department
