Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
• Occupational Therapy Assistant Certification/License
• 2+ years of relevant experience; experience in a school and/or pediatric setting(s) preferred.
• BLS/CPR Cert.
• Must possess strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must demonstrate initiative and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must have the ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time; see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone; and the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions; May include frequent walking, standing, stooping, lifting up to approximately 25 pounds and occasional lifting of equipment and/or materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds may be required.

 

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Job Description:

• Caseload and details of position/classroom type will differ based on school location – Recruitment Specialists can discuss in detail upon application to connect you to the classroom and best suits your experience and skillset.
• Contract through the 2026/2027 school year – 37.5 hours per week
• Contract follows the academic district calendar.

 

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Duties:

• Evaluate patients by observing their movements, performing standardized tests, and listening to their concerns to establish an individualized plan of care.
• Competent care is rendered to patients using exercises, stretching, equipment, modalities, and hands-on therapy to manage patients’ pain, increase mobility, and prevent further pain and injury.
• Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with patients and motivate them to reach their goals.
• Provide continuity of care by communicating pertinent patient information with the rehab team, physicians, and other disciplines as needed.
• Document all patient care in accordance with department policies.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations; and adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.

 

Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) Pay:

• $1,575 – $1,800/weekly
