Key Responsibilities of the RN - Labor and Delivery

• Provide comprehensive care during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods
• Perform triage of obstetrical patients and use of EFM (External Fetal Heart Monitoring)
• Circulate for and recover C-sections; scrub for C-section when needed
• Assist with vaginal deliveries, forceps, and vacuum extraction
• Conduct assessments such as NST, edema evaluations, and APGAR scoring
• Manage post-delivery care including breastfeeding support, thermoregulation, and discharge teaching
• Execute interventions like magnesium sulfate therapy and Pitocin administration
• Uphold safe practices and infection control protocols, including PPE and isolation precautions
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient care

Requirements of the RN - Labor and Delivery

• Current NY RN license
• 2+ years of experience in Labor and Delivery
• Certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate
• Familiarity with Allscripts charting system preferred
• Community hospital experience required
