Position Details

• Position: Travel Registered Nurse (RN) - ICU

• Unit: Intensive Care Unit

• Shift: Night Shift, 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM

• Scheduling: Block scheduling is not guaranteed

• Floating: Required

• Scrub Color: Navy

• Local Candidates: Accepted (within 75 miles; local rate applies)

• Travel Experience: Required

• EMR: Epic

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required.

• 4-5 years of ICU experience preferred.

• Must have documented previous travel nursing experience.

• Experience in one or more of the following ICU specialties:

  • Medical ICU (MICU)

  • Surgical ICU (SICU)

  • Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU)

  • Trauma ICU

  • Neuro ICU

Required Certifications and Documents

• Current AHA BLS certification

• Current AHA ACLS certification

• Current NIHSS certification

• Active New York (NY) RN license

• Nursys license verification report for NY and all other active RN licenses

• Valid driver's license with an address matching the candidate's demographic information

• Updated resume documenting at least 2 years of ICU experience and previous travel assignments

• Skills checklist matching the ICU specialty

• All requested time off (RTO) must be disclosed at submission

Required Clinical Skills

• CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy)

• Prismaflex experience

• Epic EMR documentation

• Critical care assessment and monitoring

• Hemodynamic monitoring and management

• Emergency response and stabilization

• Ventilator management and respiratory support

Highly Preferred: Cardiac and heart-related critical care experience. The hiring manager is prioritizing candidates with this background.

• Total Beds: 42

  • East Unit: 20 beds

  • West Unit: 22 beds

• Neuro/Medical ICU: 22 beds

• CTICU: 6 beds

• Surgical/Trauma ICU: 14 beds

Common Patient Diagnoses

Neuro/Medical ICU

• Stroke and altered mental status (AMS)

• Sepsis

• Respiratory failure

• Congestive heart failure (CHF)

• Neuro-interventional procedures, including TCAR

Cardiothoracic ICU (CTICU)

• Cardiovascular surgery

• Cardiogenic shock

• Aortic aneurysm repair (AAA surgery)

Surgical/Trauma ICU

• Trauma cases

• Major postoperative surgical patients

Specialty Equipment

• Intra-aortic balloon pump (IABP)

• CRRT systems, including Prismaflex or NxStage

• Ventriculostomy systems

• Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring

• Targeted temperature management (TTM), including Arctic Sun

Floating Requirements

Floating is required across ICU units based on facility needs. Nurses may float to all units except Behavioral Health and the Emergency Department, unless the ED is holding patients.

• Local candidates within 75 miles are accepted at the local rate.

• Candidates must be comfortable floating between ICU specialties.

• Block scheduling is not guaranteed.

• All RTO must be included with the initial submission.

• Heart-related critical care experience is strongly preferred.
